Hey guys, I'm working on a character that my buddy and I hope to get 3D printed. Here's the concept: And here's my current progress: I wanna get his anatomy down before I move onto his armor and clothing. Feedback is greatly appreciated as always guys. Let me know if you see something off :)
Cool! Keep up the progress! If you're currently focusing on anatomy I found this site quite helpful: https://line-of-action.com/practice-tools/figure-drawing/ You can choose a time-limit and the site keeps going through different photos for you to study.
Yeah, I don't agree either. As someone who is new, ask as many questions as you need to. Pavlovich tutorials are great for learning anatomy. I'd also check out Flipped Normal's YouTube channel. They have a ton of excellent character sculpting tips and tutorials.
Here's another series I'm working on. I take the works of French painter William Bourguereau and use them to to study anatomy. That guy had some serious skills. Maybe I'll learn some by studying his work, lol. Here's the first: Le Crepescule
Indeed, you've got far too much anatomy going on here for disney style. They keep it super simple and clean. There isnt any muscle definition and the forms can all be described with very smooth simple curves. It's an exercise in restraint, not flashiness. http://imgur.com/a/8ZQ0W
You should look into learning some anatomy drawing if you want to model characters. Your proportions are off. The shoulders and the hips are too wide. Also, check out this tutorial on creating characters in 3D : http://cg.tutsplus.com/tutorials/blender/character-modeling-in-blender-basix/
Messed about with poses to try and get my head around with his anatomy. Think his arms still aren't quite right and his tail could do with being a bit longer but I'm feeling confident about his legs and his back at least.
Update on my sculpt: Here is my base mesh. It would be awesome if you see issues with the anatomy to tell me about it! I am open to better this sculpt! (Side note: I know the hands are horrible, maybe check the size of them compared to the body )
Your human anatomy needs work all over. Just focus on fixing the silhouette for now. Your character needs to be in a more relaxed, correct T pose. I really recommend picking this up for study before continuing further with details https://gumroad.com/grassetti
