I'm learning the basics of 3dsmax poly modeling. I want to apply the soft selection falloff only for x , so if i selected a vert in the middle of sg, the falloff would only apply to the vertices on the left and teh right. Hope you can understend what i mean... I'm not sure if its possible.
Wait, this is generally a legit question i joined polycount becasue of the art and becasue it a connectioon with DW, does PC HATE DM am i missing something. I joined thinking that hey ya these guys seem great, and had a question about the competition, now it appears that PC hates the shit out of DW and any speak of it…
This morning I have discovered that I can't paint in 3Do anymore. Was working a few days ago when I made my last prop. I open the dynamask editor, full paint or not, the brush circle flashes into view and then disappears. I have downloaded new gpu drivers, made new projects and reinstalled an older version of quixel suite.…
This page is the one that first introduced me to the technique. I keep returning it once in a while to refresh my memory. 😌 For people randomly stumbling on this thread in the future, two related sections on alpha: http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Transparency_map#Sorting_Problems…

Hi Win 10 Painter 2019.1.2 Hipoly model from zBrush 2019, uved Lowpoly from Blender 2.79B and baked in painter using DirectX with ID/Polygroup under ID Mesh Maps. Applying a substance material with normals baked in BM2 works great until I apply color selection to the layer. Once I do it inverts normals on one of the…
I was wondering what you guys/gals use for spread value. Do you use the default value of 180? 180 doesn't seem to have much contrast compared to 162 (xnormals default) or 140. However, i could see this being totally fine. As a new user to these program, I sometimes assume things might be happening in the background to…
check this thread https://polycount.com/discussion/56014/how-the-f-do-i-model-this-reply-for-help-with-specific-shapes-post-attempt-before-asking#latest TLDR: you need more geometry and religiously sticking to quads can cause you problems
That definitely makes sense to me! Thanks for the info Micky, so as I understood it it's like a combination of what makes this Blue paint look like actually paint on a metal and also helping in dynamask editor to tweak the mask by it's texture. Thanks!!!
I made a little trim and decal sheet, nothing crazy. I more wanted to test that they were compatible with my layered material system. I also quickly modelled a side table and a wall mounted monitor. I was given some good advice about the RGB and ID masks (ID mask can be way lower res and also the RGB masks can be lower res…
