Man you guys are always hard on this type of movie. Based on a comic book I'd say it was good and just what I expected. Best to see it IN the theatre to appreciate the sound and cgi. Of course it won't win any Oscars but who cares. It was fun and had lots of eye candy which we tend to take for granted these days IMHO.
Most people that use computers for CGI stuff buy a computer every 2-3 years, you can build a great computer for 1.5k, the i7 920 is only $200 bucks http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0302727 65% faster- risking that your $200 investment might burn out in 5 years, not that big of a deal to…
I'm a recent graduate of Game Design and currently employed as a 3D artist at a CGI studio. However my portfolio doesn't consist of alot of game work. Do you have an art test at all? I tick all those boxes but the last, and would love to prove myself! I'd gladly do it within a reasonable time frame. Cheers Dave.
Well my dream is to work with 3D art in the movie/game industry. Not just likeness stuff. i just thought this would be a good thing to have in my portfolio. and i don't understand your last question... in preparation for what? But if it would help me get a foot in the vfx/cgi business i would be willing to spend a year en…

Are you talking about wearing those cheesey glasses, or about the general use of 3d in films? Personally I hate the glasses, that's for kids, but I love to see well done cgi effects. The only thing that annoys me is when the director and or producer decides that the storyline and scripting isn't as important as wowing you…
Mmm ok but how can I do a working turntable if my item is already 10 million polygons ? Also how do the CGI artist stuff? I mean the ones that make for example a vehicle or else for a movie? Millions of polygons or low poly? And what level of detail do they go ? Model up to every screw or just large details?
What about Phoenix???!!! I mean I think I see Jean.. But she isnt on fire and shit... That and Im still waiting for the Sentinels.. [ QUOTE ] robot to use as a model for the CGI animators. But adding Sentinels to the sequel would've cost $8 million, the designers told the site. Thus, it was cut from the film. [/ QUOTE ]…
BTW, Killzone 2 hits E3 this year, for REAL this time. If there was any game that will wow you, that will be it. They cant afford it to be average looking, its gotta hit as close to that CGI trailer mark as possible. I have a feeling they can do it. Killzone 1 (Despite the LOD issues) looked fantastic for its time. So with…
