I already feel that good FX artists are worth their weight in gold. I wouldn't suggest anyone specialize, but building a sub-portfolio of tasty weapon/spawn/environmental/etc. effects and expressing an interest in doing it full time would be smart.
nice website, very simple/easy to navigate. Sadly, we can't zoom in that stunning works :) ! I fell in love with some of your assets (like that earth golem or the low poly weapons!), motivates me a lot to work my paintskills.
Hey everyone! First time posting here. I am working on this battle locomotive with train cart that generates power for the big weapon and the locomotive. This is a for an advance modeling class, and I am still working out ideas and refining shapes. I will post the progress I made so far and my reference boards to show what…
Wanted to sharpen my modelling and hard surface skills so decided to make 1 weapon scope every day for 7 days and then create low poly versions for game assets! Trying to make the high poly models using only splines, booleans and 3ds max re topology modifiers!
Looks great! Feels like a Mass Effect character. The weapon looks a little rushed, and the material work is pretty boring in contrast to the character, and the bands/straps on his quads look a little basic/unfinished compared to the details on his chest.
Hey, your model accuracy is off, are you doing a stylised version? If not i suggest finding high res reference images and look at the weapon from all angles. Also, the eotech has some weird normals or baking issues.
these are usually standard paint with metallic flecks mixed in. regardless, is near impossible to represent car paint without a shader that has two specular lobes. one for the paint, one for the clearcoat. paint on weapons is just paint and should be represented as a nonmetal.
I'm Adelia, a criminal with old 4x4 muscle car, box full of weapons, stylish light clothes and kill count over 110,000 bodies, trying to find immortality treasure on Syberia... APB Reloaded meets Rise of Tomb Raider
Start off with low level, low risk stuff. Tables, crates, power ups for games. Then do weapons, gear, etc. Then move of to small enviros, enemies, etc. Keep leveling up once you master each level.
I tried this kind of exercice too and I was given a good reference, so I thought I could share it with you. http://www.3dmotive.com/new-release-hand-painted-weapon-texturing/ It is a good ressource. Keep working.
