I think i will try to combine both of your ideas, set the projection of the room onto a plane with matted surface and a glass front of it with a clearcoat layer, but i have strong suspicion that my issue is the parallax, as the shadow doesn't extend into the room, because there is nowhere to extend to as it is just a plane… -

What Photoshop extensions do you use?
Recently some people have shared some cool extensions for Photoshop that I never realized existed. The first is Kuler and built into CS6 (and I think CS5). Go to Windows / Extensions / Kuler.
