Eric: I think he wants to actually relax the seams, but keep them so they're aligned at the borders (so it will only relax horizontally rather than vertically, if you know what I mean). I was trying to write something like this recently, but some issues in Maxscript (or my poor understanding of it) meant it didn't always…
Asked that in "how u model dem shapes" too but I feel thats the wrong place. So I want to put this question in a seperate thread. While adding extra loops Turbosmooth also seems to average the curved surface in a specific way, different to a relax. You all know the Vertex tweaking when defining a curved basemesh in order…
Alright, it seems like whenever I relax anything (using the same settings I've used for ages with no problems) it stretches it up vertically. For a rounder object, it essentially turns something that should be round into an oval, but for blockier things it makes the left and rightmost faces about the right size, and the…
Hello everyone. I want to unwrap my model but I have problem with one piece. Relax tool in most case can do the job but in this situation it doesn't do anything or it will make worse. Even when I want to use relax on one simple polygon, it will stratch like crazy. This is before relax and this is after I really don't know…
Hey, I was wondering what the trick was to get good results using Maya 2009's UV relax tool. The newer versions of Max have a very nice relax tool and I'd like similar results with Maya somehow. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Hi, I am part of a group of students developing their final end of the course project. I am sitting on the art side of the fence but have a hinge to the technical and want to get into shader programming. I decided to look into parallax mapping and found out about something called "relaxed cone step mapping"…
Any have experience with a great tool for relaxing UV maps? I've heard of Deep UV and maybe there's some great freeware I'm missing out on? I use the relax tool in the 3dsMax unwrap modifier so far... Thanks for your time.
I use relax with cylinder and planar projection, all the time. My main method of unwrapping involves planar mapping the entire object, creating seams, breaking and then relaxing, or just selecting faces and hitting quick peel which skips to the end result of the relax function. Relax will have trouble unfolding long flat…
in Xsi the relax tool keeps the form/volume of your geo which is awesome, just wondering if theres any scripts out there for Max that can do this? so far the only work around i have is to copy the geo , have the copy selected as the surface in the freeform graphite tools and then use alt+relax. thanks
I use 3ds max for UVing. I really want a tool that works essentially like the Relax conform brush in the graphite modeling tools only in UV space; where you can set falloff, and amount of relax to do, all while using a round brush. My question is, does anyone know of a tool that can do this? Preferably within 3ds max, but…
