You just went up my buddy list. (plasticine is a bitch compared to sculpey, and hardsurfaces are quite well to make when you get the hang of it, do it!)
Check out Tim Bergholz' tutorials: https://gumroad.com/timb He has one on rendering weapons in Toolbag. "Ultimate Hardsurface Weapon Tutorial Marmoset Renders"
wowzers! i'd love to see a mesh of this to see how you got all those soft details into a hardsurface model like this? I'm guessing it's a lot of zbrushing?
Thanks for the reply Jackablade. This character appealed to me as a "Bioshock" style concept, with a blend of hardsurface and organic modeling. That's the reason I chose this out of a million other concepts :)
I'm planning to start selling Low Poly hardsurface models to make some money while working my full time job. I am fairly confident in anything that isn't overly complicated but I would really appreciate any crtiques, advice or just thoughts you have on the stuff I have done so far that I'm planning to stick in a portfolio.…
Hardsurface model I did for a class and textured him up in Substance Painter. Check this link out if you want to see the breakdown video! https://vimeo.com/305875932 Concept art by Wim Houben. Heres my artstation! https://www.artstation.com/iliittschwager
Hey! I really like her face and your hardsurface work. I think your materials need some more definition, especially on her legs and torso. Do you have a concept you're working from?
I agree with Orb with my eye going under the throne. Maybe if there was a cool light at the bottom, that should help not pull to that area. Also I am jelly of your hardsurface skills. Awesome work so far.
Since it seems that a lot of the body is covered in hardsurface..maybe you want to have a look at modelling/sculpting the cloth as opposed to using Marvelous? I would be a great learning point as well, especially since this is a personal piece(?)
Konras, looks like pretty cool hardsurface work to me, I like everything except the hands, they just look a little bit too much like an 80s tv program robot would have hehe
