fastest way to merge
quick question for maya... if i have two cylinders with the same amount of verts on the ends whats the fastest way to merge something like this? currently i'm combining the objects then going vert by vert using the merge vertices tool. i was able to select all of the end verts from both objects and just hit merge to take… -
Question about the Max polycounter
I have an object in my scene, when activated the polycounter under "count polygons" i get 837 But when i activate the "count triangles" it goes up to 1430, and i have about 4 visible triangles on my object What is the best way to know the exact number of "faces" in Max ? i don't really care if its tris or polyquads but… -

For the transparency part, click 'Shading' above the viewport and check 'Polygon Transparency Sorting'. I have no problem with the clothes (the object), my problem is with the bake, the ambient occlusion of the same has few details and depth, I wish it were stronger, I tried to change some settings in the bake, but nothing, I would not like change the object, just some setting that let the bake deeper, stronger -

I still don't get ignore backfacing in 3ds Max. The help of Autodesk says "when on, prevents the selection of sub-objects not visible in the viewport", but when I try to select the front face it ends like this: It selects polygons in the back of the object that I'm pretty sure aren't appearing in the front view, why is… -

Try starting with a translucent material and a depth fade node. The default output should give you a greyscale output that fades your object as it gets in contact with other objects, but if you invert that and tinker with it a bit, I'll bet you can get an effect where it does something like what you're after. -

it's just a simple system of ' Look at' animation constraints together with the hose object for the wires. the part that gets me annoyed is that it all gets broken if i parent one object that i forget to reset xforms on..this causes all kinds of warping and breaks the whole rig, leading me to have to redo the whole mess. -

Added some boots and pouches and did a quick paintover on how he would look with the cape. I'd like to make the cape and the cowl part of one object, just trying to figure out how, maybe do a seam on the bottom of the neck, with stiches so that it looks like it's one object. Any tips? -
