Hi polycounters. For my first post I thought I would whip up a simple object with the aim of texturing practice. It is meant to be a fairly new box that's been sitting on the shelf for a little while. Constructive Criticism always welcome. p.s let me know if this post is in the wrong thread
Just practicing a render of a skull. Using an in-browser photoshop-like program using a mouse: Pixlr.com (I'm like 1% done) RIP: (render in progress) Reference: Btw, does anyone know how to make a GIF of a WIP? (instead of posting multiple separate images?) Thank you.
Broad topic, I know, and maybe a bit hush-hush for some...but I'm curious as to what types of art preproduction practices you have in place at the studios you work at, and what types of assets and documents come out of it by the time production starts. Please bite :-) Cheers!
Concept Art that i made a couple of week ago. What you think guys?? Critiques are welcome! In this one i use some photos for the first time, trying to practice matte painting techniques, in the future i want to have the possibility to work as a matte painter for the films. Goodbye! Pedro
Hey hey, I'm looking for books on lighting theories*, environment modelling (highres/next gen if possible) practices, texturing, etc. I use Max execlusively (atm) and am interested in current-to-next gen. tech. *Game related if possible. "How to light your models", etc. Thanks!

Bad practice aside though.. I don't think thats necessarily the root of the artefacts in your original image - there's a better…
It's worth pointing out that they have a proprietary engine and that there's no reason you cant store multiple vertex color sets in a model so they probably just do that for simplicity's sake. This is also what the slides suggest they did so I think it's a safe bet. The simplest option if you only have 4 channels is to do…
🌟 New year, new update. Happy New Year! During this past month, I have temporarily set aside materials and focused on perfecting the blocking and completing all the props for the environment. Currently, all the map props are done (except for the vegetation), but my intention is to add some unique ones or from other maps to…
Environment Concept Art These are speed paint black and white thumbnails done as practice. I didn't use any photobashing or photo textures, just brush work. "Forest Mountain Castles." "Jungle" - a squad of soldiers patrols.
Finished my second bust sculpt, including my first time retopping and texturing. There are things about it that I can definitely do better with practice, retopping especially, but overall I'm happy with how it turned out.
