Only time will tell if it's for better or for worse I guess. But I trust Pixologic, even though I am a mudbox user. Pixologic has always done well in the past, I see no reason for them to ruin that reputation now. -

It seems doubtful (in my opinion) that ZBrush would develop direct rendering, when there is already the Keyshot bridge. Zbrush Core comes "free" with a 200$ Wacom. OP you could buy a used Z-Brush license.
