Hi there! My name is Adolf Navarro and I want to share this project with you. I used iClone6 Pro and Sony Vegas Pro 12 in order to make the animations and the Video editing, but eventually I also used Photoshop Elements, Substance Player, 3DStudio Max 2011 and iClone 3DXchange 5.5 Pipeline in order to prepare some of the…
Hi people, Im going to be looking for a job soon (aiming for an Indie company) and I dont feel prepared at all (then again who would with their first job) so Id really (really) appreciate some general advice, wall of text ahead. back when i first got into the industry I was a super wide eyed wet behind the ears eager beaver, always reading up on CG, attempting to start projects that would always go unfinished and spending a ton of time playing video games etc. cut to 5 years later, I never do personal work at home, I have pretty much accepted that…
KP, the alphabetization is only really for the beginning, obviously the order is as material dominance demands, but at the onset of a project it makes working the basics fast. That was just a shot of my blank ps file that I can open up and know exactly where everything is and can quickly adjust all master groups to fit the…
I spent the beginning of the day screwing around with Mental Ray and various lighting methods. Then I made a couple new textures and... my brain dropped out the back of my head. A few things: 1) It looks like your wood grain on the shelving is flowing the same way across every piece. Unless it was carved out of one giant piece of wood the grain is going to flow in a way that makes that piece the strongest it can. Even with particle board they wrap in a wood pattern that would flow like wood does.…

If it's for normal maps, you can afford to be messy a little, but I found it…
I haven't read the whole thread, don't have time to, so this might have been covered already. Studios look for a level of performance not necessarily titles under your belt. If you portfolio looks like someone who has 2 years of experience then you will get noticed even if you haven't worked a day in your life on a title.…
Slang for cheating, faking, or skirting the rules. Being a sneaky bastard. Like if you put a point light in the middle of a room it'll make it look sort of kind of vaguely like simple Global Illumination. The car looks much better, the nose and front wheel arches seem a lot more solid and grounded, and the front light…
Orientation does not matter, but in some cases a thoughtful layout can make for easier texturing -- for instance with hair cards all facing the same direction. About scale -- you are on the right track. I think if you spend some time studying the wiki, you'll be able to answer these questions yourself. Do you know about…
