Now...if only Allegorithmic would team up with Pixologic to become Pixogorithmic!...or, um, just simply incorporate some of Allegorthimic's texturing technology into ZBrush and allow for seamless transition between their two standalone software.
I've really enjoyed the Pixologic twitch channel and it's video archives. Micheal Pavlovich runs some pretty popular zbrush tutorials outside of the channel too, but it's a cool place to start. www.twitch.tv/videos/122140364
Silo is great, but is dead. As long as there are just words from NC and no actual updates for years, the death remains. Pixologic development model is something completely different. I think VW will be a quite substantial "update" to Silo. :)
There is not much you need to know, just paint where you want seams and paint where you don´t want them, there is a mini tutorial/demonstration on the pixologic website which shows how to use it.
All the ZScript-based tutorials that come with ZB are pretty damn good for getting all the basics down. Also, the ZBrush Practical Guide on Pixologic's site is quite useful after you've gotten a good start
Hey Tomiajayi, no they haven't updated it..... It will still cause motion sickness at the default settings :) BUT... to Zbrush and pixologic's credit the UI is completely modular, and customizable.... completely. There are no boundaries or limitations with it, and its really straight forward and easy to do.
So there seem to be a lot of places to download matcaps, including the pixologic website, but if I understand correctly mat caps don't play nicely with BPR rendering as most that information is baked into the material. So are there any repositories of standard materials for ZBrush?

An OC, Jacqueline Celestia. This is the first entry for a new (3d) character art portfolio I'm beginning to piece together. On to the next character... Thanks for viewing and your input. Programs: ► Adobe Photoshop, ► Autodesk Maya, ► Marmoset Toolbag, ► Pixologic ZBrush
If anyone is interested, feel free to PM me. Pixologic doesn't allow you to just swap licenses when you change operating systems, so I'm looking for someone to swap my Mac license with. Thanks! -Dave
