I think the new XGen will help you with your problem, it seems to be a very powerful system. Yet, its only in 2014 Extension release of maya. [ame=" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPZvG5H8MoY"]Xgen: Autodesk® Maya® 2014 Extension Release - YouTube[/ame]
UV maps don't necessarily have to be a square, they can be rectangles as long as each side is based on a power of 2, so like 512 x 1024, or 512 x 2048. Here, the UV's are referencing outside of Quadrant 1 and into Quadrant 2 (using x, y math terminology).
I used to find it a bit hard at the beginning because frustration kept pushing me away from work and playing games instead, but I just kept pushing frustration back until it gave up on me :) Start VERY small, don't overwhelm yourself and power through it!
Finally another update! Got a bit sidetracked, but I'm powering through now. Got some of her skirt blocked in along with a few doodad props. Threw a quick material/polypaint on her to see where she's heading - nothing permanent, but she's definitely looking cinnamon spicy!
@RN Ooooh! Talk about missing the forest for the trees. I completely walked past that possibility! We're already in print on this piece but I can update it for future prints. Can you walk me through how you produced the shine? Powerful contrast is proving a challenge for me.
Its powered by "Snowdrop", I presume a proprietary in-house engine. It remains a mystery to me whether or not it was built up from the ground. Which I would imagine is unlikely, given the increasing complexity of modern game engines. Source: http://www.ubi.com/US/Games/Info.aspx?pId=11725
Glad everyone agrees on the abilities :P I create powers everyday at work, so it will be fun! I'm also thinking about doing 2 versions, 1 for UDK and 1 for Hero Engine (BioWare uses this) for those who want may want to learn using an MMO engine.
The dragon's head is a good idea but all you need is to make it so that the head flows into the handle, also if you are going to ditch it make it so you have a one sided handle, because the blade on the sword is really nice. This could also help, with flow (power rangers for the win)
Toy Art War is a war between races, nations and planets in the Galaxy of ToYcon. This huge war there is the Big Hat legend. BigHatBoy is chosen by being the Big Hat to end this conflict, facing Lord Of Bones hats who want to own the Big Hat and its powers and dominate the Galaxy.
Been mucking about with this and I have to say it's very neat. I never used the default mask generators; I found it much more useful to add my curve/ao as fill layers with levels on top or in between. This is simple enough to be powerful and also useable. Good stuff.
