Hi everyone! There is so much information right here on the forums and I'm looking through it daily, but I was hoping someone could recommend me some books and other training materials about 3D modeling, specifically for games. I've been working in the games industry for almost a decade, but I'm completely self-taught and…
I figured I would start one of these since I can see my desert thread getting clogged with new stuff. I'm trying to get better at texturing, poly flow, and shaders. At the same time I am trying to get into the habit of good efficient modeling, so without further delay here is the model I am currently working on.…
If I render from frame 1, there's no delay in the render starting. If I render from frame 1000, Backburner takes about an hour to start spitting out frames. It just say's "Busy" and all the cores are running at 100% on the farm. I've never had a problem with this before! I have no idea what's going on... anyone ever…
So im going to make multiple props for a project, mostly furniture and indoor stuff, and im considering what approch to go with. the first that comes to mind is to go super modular. have a couple of different materials, wood, metal etc. and a couple of detail tetxtures that i use as decals to break up the repeditivness. on…
Issue was caused by SSAO. I slightly moved a few meshes which fixed the majority of my problems. The other problems you just can't see :p Worked on lighting a bit more today. Added some gradient decals to the walls. Stopped fog from casting shadows. Slightly lit the tunnel. Redid the numbers on the clock tower. I think I…

Since the previous post, I've added various sign post assets throughout the environment, added dirt/moss/leaf decals and fog throughout the streets, added some fencing around the loading area,…
Next update. Changed that huge friame around door and changed the door itself. I think it looks better now. Created sink and tiles texture. I might saturate those tiles a bit. Started making hanging clothes, blankets with Blender cloth simulation. Still need to work on them a bit, but I'm happy how easy it was to get…
Hello guys, big update: sorry for the massive delay, i had to drop this project for a while because of work, house move etc. manage to pick it back up the last month or so, hacking at it here and there. So here are some of the screen shots from my ztool so far. I feel its close to finishing the z brush model and unto re…
Dayum Brad that's some nice work son :P As far as your animation goes James, watch your silhouettes and hold your poses longer, you missed some good opportunities with the sniper in this regards. Like when he first throws his arms to the side, hold that pose (moving hold of course) for a few more frames before he lifts his…
