Hey again - no it's not anything to do with intensity or falloff, I've tried all that. Something is being culled as the light moves beyond a certain distance because the volumetric shadowing is there one moment, and then I move it a tiny bit more and it shuts off entirely. But what is being culled, and what it is being…
I'm a little tired and frustrated of looking at my project. I know I can get it 'there' and it can be good, but I'm having trouble focusing my best efforts. I want to decorate it with all the props and fun stuff, but don't think I should do that until I get my lighting and materials right. The idea here is that I can use…
Helping you out with specularity would be easier if you showed your specular texture, how you have it set up in max and a comparison render with/without specularity. You do have lights in your scene right? Here I have a scene with two planes. The rear one is just there to test opacity. On the hair I told max to reflect…
Do you mean like putting the AO map as the specular power? It could cause some shading irregularities as the light passes around and should be lighting areas, but it's the closest thing I can think of to what you want. That might throw off the lighting to the extent it could fake a change to the ramp.
Aha, you were right it was my setup. There was a parameter that I exposed a while ago in my roughness and had adjusted in Unity. Moral of the story, if a substance isn't coming out as expected in Unity, add 'Check for exposed parameters' to the troubleshooting. Anyway, the material is finally 'working' as I more or less…
hey , ive made a map with a day/night cycle , does anyone knows if its possible to somehow make the lights turn on when its starting to get dark? thanks for the help :)
Hey everyone, I’ve just uploaded a new project on Artstation where I’ve been focusing on lighting in Unreal Engine 5. I’m really trying to explore how lighting can shape the mood and atmosphere of a scene, and I’d love to get some feedback from the community here. Any thoughts or suggestions for improvement would be super…
@Z0ltBa you have a great start to a scene! With the right lighting this will really shine. 2 big things that I think are working against your right now: 1. The biggest contrast steals the focal point. 2. There are a lot of different types of contrast. In your case the relevant ones are Value (brightness) and Color.…
Hey, I am Leif Peterson. I currently find myself looking for new employment. Nearly every image on the site, excluding my work from Gangstar Vegas, has been produced in the last month. I threw out everything from before my job at Gameloft. I still feel like chucking things out... My site is lmp3d.com I've crunched more in…
Hi, I have a lighting issue within marmoset. At first I thought I might have a problem with my normal smoothing or my normal map so I rebaked everything, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Here is my low poly model (with smoothed normals) and the normal map in maya. As you can see, everything looks fine: Once I import…
