[UE5] Mood Lighting Study - Seeking Feedback

Hey everyone,

I’ve just uploaded a new project on Artstation where I’ve been focusing on lighting in Unreal Engine 5. I’m really trying to explore how lighting can shape the mood and atmosphere of a scene, and I’d love to get some feedback from the community here.

Any thoughts or suggestions for improvement would be super helpful. Whether it’s about light placement, color balance, or anything else!

Here’s the link to my Artstation project: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/V281GR

Assets from Megascan and Epic free content, and inspiration gained from this wonderful 2D illustration:https://www.artstation.com/artwork/49wgQq

Thanks so much in advance for taking the time to check it out. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Looking at the reference I think that the light is dimmer, like a slit that gradually opens. At dawn you do have this very pinkish and horizontal light, it feels like a slit on the horizon but its dispersion is much higher than what is seen on your image. I think you would gain also to add fog on your mountains to make them more blurry; the jagged edge lines catch a lot of attention and are a bit distracting. Just a wee bit more of contrast could be nice too for the dramatic effect. The reference image also has some clouds going on, some type of cirrus. It’s subtle but it adds to that feeling of opening movement. That all said, very cool work!
