Bigger update. Totally redid the cloth folds on his shorts, and did a texture pass. My texturing skills aren't great, so hopefully I can get some critique and help!
So I'm at a stage where I can possibly call this done. The one thing I'm trying to resolve though is whether to go red or yellow for the clothing decor. Thoughts? Yellow: Red:
Looks pretty good, but is really plain, it would definitely benefit from some subtle cloth texture, maybe it has something, but those shots are so far back I can't see.
I think its very important. Being able to sculpt cloth detail and then adding the folds on lower subdiv levels having the details addapt nicely. I think that cant really be replaced.

Fair point, though the character is mostly going to be covered up with clothing, so you wont ever see any muscle definition. Would it matter not including too much definition in that case?
Here is a project me and Svein Yngve Antonsen did in our freetime. We used Zbrush, Photoshop, Modo, xNormal and Toolbag(Marmoset) He did all the sculpting and texturing of the skin. I did model and textured the shotgun, and textured the clothes, stand and boots.
