Yeah its pretty great to have that kind of enviorment to work in. The trick is to aim to do it in 2 weeks and spend the other 2weeks just polishing everything. Working in incrimental builds really. It really helped that i got alot of tallented people on the team :) . Anyhow everytime i read through one of my comments i…
Looking really solid! i think maybe some of the arena pics are a bit dark, there kind of hiding some of your work, that could just be my screen though, hard to tell. Like s0id3 was saying maybe just some kind of modern hero prop/vehicle or sci-fi enviro? it's still a very strong enviro portfolio though.
Also this guy named Messing . You can see his work in the concept area of Tabula Rasa and the enviro work is mind blowing ! http://www.playtr.com/media/concepts.html I actually have a tie with Sparth and that would be Capt. Flushgarden aka John Liberto he did the gears of war enviro concepts…
Alright for a Medieval enviorment i made a crate prop which i'm struggling with to get a proper texture. Here's two renders to show what i currently got. Anyone mind telling me how i can improve my textures radically? at the moment they are horrible. Also this is only a diffuse map i got no bump atm, still working on…
Nice furniture renders dude :) I can see a bunch of areas where you could improve, but honestly just keep making more art and pushing yourself, you'll end up improving a ton. I'd say remove the Space Marine and the Scifi room. The texturing on the Streets of Amsterdam isn't really up to par, but I'd honestly just move…
I recently purchased El Coro weapon designs from Massive Black and thought it was a really cool idea to block out objects in 3d before the "concept" was finalized with a paint over in photoshop. I was curious if it is a method used often in creating work for enviroments as well? Is it common practice to use 3d primitives…
Spent a bit of time doing up SW and W facing poses (second pic is at 2x): and a quick rotation showing the three facings so far. threw 'em on a shot of the enviro, just for kicks. Still haven't redone the enviro textures. I'll probably have to zoom in a tad closer, too, since they look like oversized people now. edit:…
Hi there! This thread is a game project tread about a game project in my school. We are 4 Artists and 5 programers. What to do: This game is going to be a top down mulitplayer game in a fantasy enviorment. The first map we are going to do is a medieval tavern. You are a magician and the goal is to kill all the other…
I didn't bevel all the edges I will go back and make adjustments. I rendered everything in Blender. I can make the enviornment more fitting for this prop and improve the lighting. Thank you for the suggestions!
Good advice in here, but one thing I would suggest is if your goal is to be a 3D enviro/prop artist, then focus on work that is in that realm. Guns and weapons are a specialty that have a crazy high bar for quality standards, and have artists whose sole career goals are guns/weapons. So unless you're willing to change your…
