While using Arnold in Maya, I faced an unusual problem: There are 32 teeth models in the project (16 upper and 16 lower). I use 4 UDIM maps; one for each eight teeth. For some reason, Maya visually inverts the Normal maps along the Y axis ONLY for the lower teeth, while the upper teeth remain as they should (in the final…
I might try this. one thing the game is really great at is landmarks. you can look at your map and see some settlement, and when you close the map and look up at the horizon you will find a tower in the distance, or a windmill, or the lights of a city at night. Several times I have climbed a hill just to look around and…
Awesome i was thinking of picking that one up. I might have to do the same. Ysalex, Nice I'm sure teriyaki pointed you in the right direction, the only reason i ask is that focusing on area of 2d to start is probably a good idea. Like focusing on line based art is probably the best place to start as it cuts out having to…
Ben Apuna - Thanks for all the feedback and the tutorial. I'll definitely take a look at it. Worst comes to worst I might just bend modifier it up lol. Would be a real pain doing all of that after everything is in place though. Natetheartist - Thanks, this scene is rendered in UDK. Changes -Slight angle turn -Made the…
Not sure where you are looking for work but Shrike is right on the money. Also the piece at the top I think is your worst piece, so you might want to remove that or give it a serious lighting/layout adjustment. Also, since you are doing this all in UDK it would probably benefit you in your job search to include…
Looks so much better than my first model, well done on that. My crit would be at the corners where each face meets, the wood doesnt match up right, so sections go from a light colour wood, and jump quickly into darker wood, might want to try and fix that. Oh and you should have connected the Uv's together to conserve space.
Hey Scott, You're right, I've done another quick pass on it. This is my first time dealing with PBR so I'm learning as I go :) Also testing it on multiple lighting schemes to see if it holds up. Just a few things left to do before I start assembling the scene. Might be a better idea to iterate further on those materials…
OK, it is your call what to do. Just know that turntables are really annoying for employers. I looked at your Artstation page, and I see the shading errors there too. Your lighting is very frontal which tends to hide errors. This might be the same model, but here for example the left side (character's right arm) shows…
cool I got reponses and thank you guys. Cholden: Trees: Here is the tree leaves texture. Is it too busy? Is that the problem? Should I lessen the leaves...or blurr it out more? Light: I was learning lighting as I about to render it. I also had a night scene. I wanted to do a night to day transsition. One of my teacher told…
Hi I was wondering if anyone has lighting issues with shave and haircut for maya 2010. I have one directional light and 2 spotlights. I use the spotlights for reflections in the eyeballs so i parented the eyes and the lights together and i put them in the same visibility layers. I use the directional light to fake the…
