[ QUOTE ] I'm still playing and developing stuff for Quake 3... [/ QUOTE ] Not the worst choice, since I bet that Q3 editing will get a big boost as soon as it gets open-source at the end of this year
for rendering... looking at cinebench benchmarks will probably be most revelant. Every machine I have owned put together in a renderfarm does not equal the power of my personal machine. ( 12 heavily overclocked water cooled i7-980x threads ) which still renders 20% better at stock speeds than a 2600k and is only 10% slower…
Hi! Multiple ways to get a gradient mask across meshes, to then use in the shader to modulate values/colors. For example the gradient could be stored in a UV set, vertex color, generated from the y-pos in the shader, ... The way to go is something you have to decide on.
Hey guys, I've been struggling with getting some principles of modular design into my head, and was wondering if someone could explain something to me. Modular texturing/materials is obvious enough when working with flat planes, as in the Thiago Klafke tutorial - allocate texture space to a plane in a logical/practical…
Hi everyone, A dumpster robot concept, trying to work on my modeling and texturing for current gen.... This is for my folio and I'm trying very hard to get a job at the moment. So i'm really hoping to get some feedback from you awesome polycount folks. Thanks a lot! 16800 tris, 3 sets of 1024 maps
Low-end devices might have aliasing problems. If that's not a problem in your case - use geometry. Otherwise use planes with alpha. Make sure to create wires wide enough to compensate for mipmaping or you might end up with textures blurring so much it exceeds the geo, bringing aliasing problem back.
Best bet is to author in uncompressed and let the engine do the compression. Depending on the compression, different channels can get compressed differently. Gets a bit technical, but you can dive into it here http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Normal_Map_Compression
I do plan on making it 1 piece of geo, but for right now I plan on getting the shapes down and then go through turning it into 1 piece. I'll post more images as I get farther along with it.
Don't you think it's bigoted as fuck that you assume this character must be made for DEI just because she's a woman and/or non-white? You're basically saying that the only time a woman or PoC can be the main character is if a white guy took pity on them. I mean, you haven't stated any reason why it should be believed this…
I'm sure this is a question that has been asked a million times by now but I've been getting conflicting advice from friends and family. I want to become an 3d environmental artist, I already have been to school and have a degree in History but Im debating going back for Graphic Design (the only thing offered at my school…
