Working more on this environment from some of the advice given by @Fabi_G and others. I felt the overall lighting was too soft for the splintered wooden look I'm going for with this piece so I emphasised the directional light and changed a few of the specular values on the wood materials. Think I still want to work on the…
Hey folks. I am trying to create a substance which would take a simple tile grid and add dust spots and stains to it in a convincing manner. This is for a set of glass building facade textures, here are two quick references from the web just so you know exactly what I mean. My current way of doing it is by using flood fill…
Isn't color management is fully implemented in Painter now? No extra LUT is necessary for Aces pipline. Moreover Unreal doesn't use LUTs any more after it switched to HDR output for HDR monitors support. It's what I read at least. I am not much of Unreal user. We don't use Aces in our renderer. Our soft guru considers it…
I like the combination of soft and hard shapes. Also the white is an interesting element. Could be interesting to see other colour patterns too like stripes or the UK checker pattern. Maybe other lands needs a riot robot too =) Anyway are you planning to make different riot gears too? A schielded version or a bot with a…
Cheers mate, thanks for that. though I'm thinking at this early stage, busting out those two further versions of the Porsche I'd mentioned above will not only test my noob level of 'competency' implementing this particular drawing technique but patience, as well...lol :) edit: also here's the car's wip, I posted on the…
Looks to me you made it super hard crease for baking it down in the first place. I am referring to Earthquake's post where he shows acceptable view distances vs sharpness of edges for baking. Basically you make em a bit rounder (soft) than usual for good results. Have this area more UV space, large 2k bake with AA stuff…
the hovering is because you dont understand how shadows work. shadows are hard when close to contanct, and get softer the further away from something you are. see how the cubes shadow is hard at the contact point and then gets softer as it gets further away. In the second image the shadow is softer because its in the air.…
As long as you're not deleting border edges, the UVs should be fine. If you have border edges that are soft simply exclude them from the selection when you delete the edges, then delete them manually from the snapshot in your image editor and composite with your texture. If this is a one off asset that isn't massively…
I agree with this, the cheapest wacom bamboo is awesome. In fact minus the pen I prefer it to my intuos as the side buttons are annoying as hell. This will make your hand painted textures much better. Also try avoiding using soft bruises like you would any painting (generally). With that said I suck at painting and just…
Yeah I was worried somebody might react negativly to that... hmmmmm :poly134: I know right! A Star Craft Ghost thing with Katarina <3 wonder who would sue me first, Riot Games, Ubi Soft or Blizzard :poly142: again thanks for all the feedback and kind words guys!! I'll take a look at the stuff that is bothering you guys,…
