How exactly are you supposed to find things in the documentation for Max 2017 and newer? Google no longer indexs it, and the built in search feature seems to be in a barely functional state. I use the documentation a lot when doing maxscript in Max 2016, but it seems like starting with 2017 there's simply no good way to…
I'm not talking about the straight up boolean functions, as they all cause chunks to get cut out of the geometry or modify the shape of the objects. all I want are edges cut into the geometry wherever the two objects intersect am I missing a tool or is there some script I can use?
Hello does any one know how to turn this feature off, in the console command or something. I'm trying to take a screen-shot of a scene but the camera keeps moving a little bit with out me touching anything, I think its some kind of breathing function. Any help would be welcomed.
About to move onto retopo after finishing a high poly, went to go simply clone my objects and upon doing so, I get this result: As you would imagine, it's *kind of* frustrating. Again, this is only after doing the clone function on ~9 pieces of geometry.
Yes, I would like to make a game engine that also has functionality of Maya/Houdini/Substance Designer/Photoshop/SpeeTree/WorldMachine. Yeah, it is written in Python. It is pretty fast because I do all the math in NumPy, python library for math written in C
Either those two pieces in the mesh need to be split by "matching name" function, as they seem to be spilling out and bleeding onto eachother in your bakes. Or you need to minimize and turn down the cage/ray distance so that it doesn't self-intersect (if you are baking in painter)
It depends. A decent sized studio might have UI developers, UI designers, ux specialists and game designers working together. A small one might not. If you're considering it as a career it won't be enough to draw some icons - youll need to make semi functional mockups
Do you mean the boolean modifier? I have been using the boolean difference for a big part of this model including the holes in the horizontal stand as well as the shape of the part to which the stands are connected. I have a basic idea of how the other types of booleans function.
The modeling tools are being actively developed and improved in every release. The tools are very feature rich and functional, the thing that hurts the most is working in the viewport is sort of a new workflow in Houdini hah. That said this looks like yet another great release, really looking forward to it!
Yep it looks like regular modeling techniques I don't really see anything special. The graphite modeling tools inside of max have a decent extrude and bevel function. Personally I would just leave the ends open and shift/drag/extrude edges.
