Ive made complex atlased enviroments that use 8 materials containing about 56 unique tiling textures with substance painter, albeit I built said enviroment in blender and UE4, so your issues may be engine specific. -

Hi all!.. im stuck. did a consept for a weapon in a project im in and i cant decide which colour to use. What do you think? 1,2,3,4? or do you know some better combination mabye :) ? This weapon will be use in a Deus X "lookALike" sci fi enviorment, and will be used to kill zombies :) -

I imagine the fbx export option is there for super serious people/teams that want to do cutscenes where characters or whatnot interact with the enviorment (which could be supplied from the 3d program rly..).. it will probably be used for ungodly and evil things instead, and soon we'll see more "ripped and sold" threads Im… -
Mudbox vs Zbrush
So I'm trying to decide what to use for enviroments and stuff like that. I'm not gonna be really doing much characters, so for enviroments and stuff like that do you think Mudbox or Zbrush. I know you may say try both, I will do that I just want some proffesional input. -

short team goal: make enough enviro art to get into the industry long term goal: move in to character art when I have more industry experience. dream: to draw my own concepts and do both enviro and character art when I see fit haha -
How do I texture a tire without such visible seems?
Making a UDK scene I'm making some enviorment models like tires. And after unwraping I'm always having big problems with texturing. You always see where I used another photoreference or where a seam is. So this is my current texture: And how it looks in Max: Also good texturing Tutorials would be nice. -

Is this all you got or are you just showing of some props? Beacuse what i feel when im in mods and indie projects is that people tend to begin in the wrong end. They start by showing off some impressive assets and then forget with the whole picture. Would be moore intresting to see entire enviorments than just some of the… -

Depends on what the final output it. In max or maya you could set transparency and specular on the material. I've never messed with rendering enough but there's probably and enviro map thing in there too. Most new games have a material file. In it is where you declare which materials, enviros, specular to use.
