I'm not sure if this has already been posted, but I'm posting it anyway because I find it interesting. I was almost going to post it in the "Oilstorm" thread, but I figured maybe it deserves it's own thread. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050825/pl_nm/energy_montana_dc Basically (for those who don't want to read the whole…
ZA/UM is a video game studio that in 2019 released the award-winning role-playing game Disco Elysium. The studio has offices in London and Brighton in the UK and Porto in Portugal. Hi, I'm a graduate student from Escape Studios (Pearson College London) who has studied a Bachelors degree in "The Art of Video Games" for the last 3 years. I would appreciate it if you would consider hiring me for a role within the area of 3D artist. When employing someone like me, you will come to realise how willing I…
I would advice contacting artists that currently work at the companies where you have been rejected starting with the companies where you received interviews and art tests. They would be able to provide the most relevant feedback specific to the studio's needs. There are several reasons why the hiring process falls…
2d vs 3d is usually unimportant with this stuff - you can mostly use 2d techniques for navigation and layout - you just layer them up to get the third dimension. so.. hex tiling is pretty closely related to isometric tiling in terms of implementation so that might help you find tutorial examples . The main difference in…
For a given two faces connected to each other with something close to 90 degree you have only two choices: 1. Split both UV and the edge (make it hard). If you don't do this you would see ugly normal map edge artifact due to lack of padding 2. Do not split and keep smooth shading across the edge and get a strong gradient…
Yo thanks everyone, cheers! JO420: yeah, I made the small tunnel in the wall. But it's pretty rushed since it's very small in the shots. I used a modular arch before the hole and that's pretty much all of it. Rasmus: That's the color grading, Maybe it'll look less contrasty when I push the fog back a bit. Axios: yeah…
leleuxart > I'll research that texture overlay post process this weekend! First time I'm really going into all that stuff, don't wanna overdo it like a newb on the first try tho ;) I've updated the lighting but it's something I change every other day. I'll keep the contrast in mind compared to the concept :) Thanks!…
I think it depends on the engine you are using, but for UDK I'd make the broken parts and oil/blood spills into decals. So you have a clean base material and can decide where to put the decals. Sometimes they are a nice option to cover seams between tiled surfaces and further break up the monotony. Decals should be handled…
Outside of the obvious like the idea of having actual sets instead of collections, I think that an entirely new homepage could benefit the workshop greatly. Currently the homepage is basically the most popular of the week. I think a page that would have multiple lines of scroll-able sections, think netflix queue-ish, could…
