Do you save your scenes as .MB or .MA? I've learned that .MA tends to be the safest choice - that way, if a file refuses to open or crashes on load, you can at least attempt to debug it (launch Maya with script editor set to show all code, then load the file and see if anything shows up as failing to evaluate - it's… -

It kind of depends on what you'll be doing? I'll assume modeling & materials? Oh heres one when you load up your autobackup in max after it crashes, forget its an autobackup save it, then start working on another mesh and it replaces the autobackup of the one you recovered. -

Well it's better than Max crashing, the autobak corrupts, then the autobak that tries to backup the corrupted one corrupts.... that happened to me multiple times at work.. -

automasking, as said, automask by cavity, automask by backfaces etc. its in the brush options, the masking features in tool are slow and shitty and not interactive at all. @justin: 3dcoats projection is ace, and the screenshot transfer to PS is sick. I just wished they would support layermasks and other PS features. -
