Hey Polycount, new member here and glad to be a part of this community. I work for a small game development company and I am currently teaching myself 3DS Max 2011 so I can help out our artist with environment work. I've gone through a couple tutorials and I have a pretty good grasp on the actual modeling part but now I'm…
Now I know this isn't a pimp or preview, but I thought it made more sense in here than it did in the general section... I've always loved browsing artist's websites and marveling in their ability and the gorgeous artwork they post in their gallery. I've got quite a collection of bookmarks specifically for artist of various…
i dunno, id give applicable stuff out to people with similar artistic ideals and friends some reference/inspiration can be pretty personal though - in a lot of cases it plays to your own individual stylistic sensibilities or just over all mindset. *ominous drumming* ever since the unfold map function was introduced into 3ds max.. one bug has bothered me from the day i started using it. BEHOLD! the one bug to RULE THEM ALL! the one bug basically, after using the unfold map on the inner faces of the dial, one vertex "sticks" to the corner. to fix it, i have to…
No, this is the typical misconception. You definitely don't need to put hard edges on all seams, but you need seams on hard edges. Repeating this again with a good golden rule to memorize this "All of your hard edges are always UV seams, but not all of your UV seams need to be hard edges."
Just thought I'd follow up on here since a similar issue happened to me (again). Assuming folks aren't using the projection wrong (have models visible and geometry turned on to projection settings)... It's almost always a scale issue. I was using Character Creator recently which has a terrible scale for zbrush sculpting…
