Does anybody have any plugins/scripts they recommend for improving and making UV mapping easier? Or a stand alone program that is better than Maya. Preferably free, but any paid ones are welcome as well.

before you can use hdr images you need to understand what a linear work flow is and how to use it. there are many tutorials on google. the maya documentation show you how to set up linear work flow in maya.

Not sure how if there's a simple way to do it in Maya, but if you have Zbrush you could whip something up quite fast with dynamesh and some reprojection probably. I never really found a simple way to delete occluded polygons in Maya...
So I'm really trying to avoid using photons on our current project due baking time constraints has anyone figured out how to get more than 2 bounces of indirect light out of maya final gather? There is that option to turn on secondary diffuse bounces but that's it no option to do 3 or 4 bounces.
