Does anybody have any plugins/scripts they recommend for improving and making UV mapping easier? Or a stand alone program that is better than Maya. Preferably free, but any paid ones are welcome as well.

I love Ninja UV, but it isn't free. For free I would say UVDeluxe is great.

These scripts I mention supplement the regular maya tools, they don't have special mapping algorithims or anything like that, but rather a gathering of useful scripts.

Lol yea I know there is no magic tool that unwraps everything perfectly. I just need something to quickly align, offset, and just make unwrapping quicker since Maya's tools are kind of clunky.

Would you recommend the other Ninja tools? I see you can buy Ninja UV with Ninja Mesh, Topo, Fracture, Asset, City, ect. Any of those worth getting as well?

Well I bought Ninja UV before there were other tools, and it was called KAM Mapper. I have been thinking about purchasing the blackbelt for some of the other tools (mainly mesh), but they aren't neccesary for me right now.

I would say for aligning and offsetting, you should try UVDeluxe first and see if that suits your needs, but Ninja UV has alot of other cool stuff like the edge mapping and UV shell matching.

do take a look at the UV stuff in the Maya bonus tools. Within that there are other tools that can be quite handy too.....and it's free
