Question: How important are side and front vents, I'm trying to pick out a case which isn't plastered with LEDs but still has relatively decent fans, I also am trying to avoid a case that looks like Megatrons left ass cheek.
A lot of major cities in the US that have universities do have subway stops labeled after the university. Columbia University, and Hunter College have it here in NYC, and I believe Harvard and MIT have it in Boston. So, not that uncommon. As for the other thing, plenty of times. Like metal bullet holes in wood or plaster.
I've been able to make some nice sci-fi and concrete/plaster textures from scratch with Substance Designer, but i never found tutorials or examples of good nature substances: grass, rocks, cliffs, etc. Do you guys have any links or tips for this kind of workflow?
This is cool, reminds me of Tor's medieval city. Are you using tiling textures, and vertex painting for the wood and plaster of the buildings? Also I would maybe try to match the color of the grass texture with the color of the grass clumps, the transition feels a bit too harsh for me.
Okay so this is my model: And here is an example of one texture and its uv's (edges are not visible, but you can see what is happening): The plaster parts are uv'd like this (filling the whole uvmap). The another textures uv's are also filling the whole uvmap or almost the whole.
Got some time between today uni assignments to work on some textures, pretty rough so far, not liking the terrakotta-like floor tiles yet :S. Plaster Wall This floor texture is unique, this is for right below the staircase (other floor textures will be tileable)
oh wow! I can see it looking all piratey now after those initial textures. Did you model that crack in the wall above the ladder while texturing? The overhanging building in the back looks a little strange textured. Maybe plaster it instead of brick?
the chimney looks like its made of a noise modifier without a clear shape. and the edge of the right picture could use some chamfering. the edge looks to clear at the moment. the broken plaster from the brick ends there suddenly at this edge. but the rest of the stuff looks very nice. :)
hahaha.... its annoying when you dont have the portfolio or experience but ive found at work, its the best form of flattery, when i see a plant, texture, painted sky or technique plastered across someoneelses level it shows they appreciated it. THEN THEY GO AND BLOODY IMPROVE IT
I'm back with updates! This past year has been busy for me as I enrolled in Think Tank Training Center. However, I've continued working on this collab project time to time. I hit a mental block with the plants, so turned to fleshing out the rest of the apartment. For the walls I settled for a white brick and plaster. I…
