A quick update on the texture map. Nearly done with the color map, just some more detail work to do tomorrow before I knock out the spec. Going to be adding some occlusion to the armor pieces to make it pop. Probly going to tone down the tattoo and wood sheeth contrast as well. Comments and crits welcome!
I'm not sure if you can use two 2048x2048, as according to the specs you can only use one You could break it up into two 2048x1024 textures for the different variations. I was thinking of doing something similar for mine (calm blue to enraged red and armor/clothing variations... something like that for my model)
I don't understand why he's wearing tights, or why he's full of bullet holes. I also don't think its a good idea to leave those arms bare, at least put some dark spandex over them or something otherwise they would shine in the moonlight. I like the shapes in his armor and helmet.
It may be a stylistic clash of opinions but the way you distributed the detail bothers me. The problem is not on the model wich seems to be well done, it's right from the concept. The way you made the concept and gave all the detail to the armor and sword makes his face seem flat in comparison. Sorry to bash you like this…
Very cool looking, sorta like some Neo-Stargate stuff. The lower half seems to be lacking in detail compared to the upper half, it may look a bit cooler if you got your friend to add in some more armor on the legs. Though I also agree with ghost_rider about inlaying some small jewls
Not a bad start. The ref pic you have should lend itself to your design well. Remember that his armor is sittin on top of a tight t shirt underneath. Keep thrownin up WIP shots as you progress with this. ps did you give him a Dr. Orpheus medallion thing? Bold choice if so, ha.
