Like Vig said, the artwork is a little disappointing. The levels look great, layout wise. But the artwork just isn't that good. Looks like it's from the original Goldeneye. Very bland, uninspired. These levels need to be more alive, they need to pop. Cool mod though, I'll certainly check it out.
Nice job with the new layout. I agree that on some of the banner images it can be hard/impossible to read the artist name. Maybe a 1 pixel outline or drop shadow would make it easier?... MoP and adam: I seem to have fallen off the face of the Greentooth. Please redirect me :)
You can use splines to lay down your layout and then apply the sweep modifier to do the basic paths. You can then grow from there, adding ramps and the surrounding environment on top of the basic paths. Applying textures onto this would be piece of cake. Here's the finished idol. I might mess with his gems abit more to make them look alittle more fossilized than they already look. Here are my crates with some story to em. Here's the page layout and design for my portfolio i'm taking to GDC with this mini scene in it.
Eric: no, im just saying with that layout you get free horizontal tiling so if you really need to tile it in one direction you can do that with less trianges and a single material. Its more useful on a building or something rather than something organic like terrain though.
So I just graduated uni last week and have been tweaking my folio/working on new stuff. I don't post here often but I lurk on PC almost every day. Was wondering what needs changed from my current folio layout, what images I should drop, what typos I made, etc. matthewsmithgameart.com
Hey, Haven't been here in a while and just posted, noticing this awful awful new layout. The first thing that struck me was the avatar image is like 512x now, and all text defaults to double spaced even though it's single space in the composer. What the hell went on while I was gone? Did Polycount just recover from a hack…
Hello, and thank you for checking out my work. I went for something similar that I found on the internet, I kept it really simple and minimalistic so it would match the mil-spec grade quality criteria and this is the result: Workshop Link: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=679346664 Here's the first…
I´ve started a fast blockout of a modular industrial scene. I want to create something like a hydroelectric facility, but only a small one. Not realy sure about the final layout, just playing around and trying different placements of shapes. Any comments, crits, ideas or maybee links to nice references and stuff like this…
Here's how it looks: it's completely open source, and it's hosted on github. It supports multiple applications, versions, operating systems and different keyboard layouts. I've found it's great to learn shortcuts and I'm hoping more people are going to add other applications to this page. Have a look at it:…
