I've put it on detail lighting: As you can see I've got these issues: These are the properties of the World properties and the Point light I tried exporting it from 3dsmax as an ASE and FBX. I'm using smoothing groups, the light map is set to 1024 and the lighting is set to production, any help would be appreciated thanks!
The software doesn't really matter. You can use Maya, 3dsMax, Cinema4D, Blender. What's more important is the modeling process of the object and your lighting, render settings etc. to make it look photorealistic. You can achieve that in all the softwares that I mentioned.
Here is an example I just modelled up quickly to better present the problem. The artifacty cube which is the one on the left, is the Maya cube. That's the best I could get it. The cube on the right is 3DSmax, and using the normal weighted modifier
Arnold is developed independent of the Max dev team. You can just download and install the latest Max2A, which features the latest Arnold core. Grab it from here for Max 2019; https://www.arnoldrenderer.com/arnold/download/#3dsmax
Not if its there since lot of time and may be darkened by an explosion or somethig I guess... Anyway very cool job , reminds me of fallout 3 that I loved really ... is this made entirely in 3dsmax or you are making it in anther engine?
I believe this is from Studio Khara, a Japanese studio that also does the evangelion films. They use Pencil+ plugin for 3dsMax for their toon shading. It's a really great plugin that's used almost exclusively in anime production. Unfortunately it's not available for Maya...
did you looked into the help files? it seems to be covering the subject pretty well http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/MAXScript-Help/index.html?url=files/GUID-EC33589D-822A-4E79-9682-185EC5DBAB9F.htm,topicNumber=d30e104121
Are you talking about MassFX (which uses PhysX)? It's been mentioned that Parameter Manager lets you bulk edit properties on similar objects. Maybe you can try that. http://www.neilblevins.com/cg_tools/scripts/3dsmax/soulburnscripts.htm
Peanut is right. Here is the page in the help file that refers to this. http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/3ds-max/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2015/ENU/3DSMax/files/GUID-7D42A8A7-6E39-4C94-87A5-5B32F665C6CF-htm.html
Get latest drivers. Also, fiddle with the settings in Direct3D preferences. http://docs.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/15/ENU/3ds-Max-Help/index.html?url=files/GUID-4FB6180F-7C21-4B0E-903B-D25974C92FB7.htm,topicNumber=d30e587216
