Hello, i am trying to find how can i turn on or off the visibility of normals? I started yesturday with my maja project (i am noob in maya) but did not find a way to turn on visibility of normals. So i can see what way they are facing.
Is it really an issue? bevels are somewhat broken in Maya. And in 3ds max as well. Don't know how to fix it as I don't use maya. Maybe try Sub-D instead if you need it to be really smooth.
Maybe you could try the Nex Plugin for maya it has a similar feature like the Live Mode of maya but way better, but i don´t know if this will help you with your problem though, this was just what came to my mind
Have you ever thought about developing a small game from a general theme in less than 48 hours? Sounds crazy but that's exactly what happens in the global game jam event. On the last weekend we formed a team and participated in this event. Trying to make a great and good looking game within that short period of time was an…
I will look into it, but from what I can tell, Maya Lt doesn't have python integration. Therefore you would have to find out a way to get python into Maya. If its possible.. I have no idea. I sure as hell am not gonna convert the script over to Mel. Sorry :( maybe they will add it in the next versions.
Did you import this object into Maya from Max? Maya's importers often "lock normals". The proper steps to reset this is to do: 1. Normals -> Unlock Normals 2. Normals -> Soften Edge 3. Edit normals manually now, if you need to. If that doesn't work then something else is wrong... maybe double-sided polygons as mentioned…
Please, for the love of all that is great and good in this world, can somebody point me in the direction of a utility or plugin or similar that will allow me to move basic textured meshes between Maya and Max without needing to backflip through hoops while blindfolded? Over the years, I've had innumerable gizmos that could…
Dude! Again thanks so much! You seem like you know a lot about NPR / Video game toon stuff. I've learned so much about this style in the last week and advanced techniques (guilty gears vertex normal/texture line setup, etc) If you want any resources I could PM you some stuff, like I have some actually Maya scene files of…
If you have 2013 you should have Depth Peeling, an algorithm new to that edition of Maya. Otherwise, Maya has never been very good at rendering transparency... Maybe there's a custom shader out there that treats transparency better? I think this one handles it better: http://www.kostas.se/?p=30
Ok - Ive read everything about normal baking in Maya - still not getting results. Its just a test but nada output that's pleasing. Here are the settings and the output etc. Please help: Its probably just a simple issue with padding or a setting. I have some tiny bevels here - maybe my UV mapping is poor - I don't know !! :#
