Hi everyone! I found out about this contest a little late so I'm trying to rush everything in! Hopefully I get this finished! I decided to design skins for Xayah and Rakan, based on marionettes, with inspiration from Swan Lake (because birbs). I'm a first year student and huuuge fan of League and have been playing since…

Alright so, first time posting on Polycount so I'm going to try not to make too much of a twit out of myself on the first go. I'm a college student and I'm working on independent (as in non-group, not out of class) projects but I'm finding my actual skill levels being rather lacking so I was referred to Polycount for the…
Hello ! This is my thread for my VFX entry. I'm gonna work on some nuclear stuff, with an automated missile as my projectile, and a radiation status effect ! On this project, i'll be more onto semi-realistic VFX than fully stylized. I'm currently a student, and I'm pretty new to the Polycount community, even if I read a…
Briefly: I am a student at the Art Institute in San Diego studying Game Art. I'm set to graduate in March. The school primarily revolves around 3d environment art but I've been trying to focus myself more on concept art, though I'm essentially marketing myself as a generalist. Critique on any of my 2d or 3d stuff is…
Im using student version of 3DS Max 2015. Occasionally, it will take the program between 5-8 minutes just to start up (yes. I have timed it) I dont understand why. Im using 64 bit windows, intel i5 3.2ghz, 16gb ram, gtx660ti and 2 TB HDD. Im well above the recommended requirements so why is this taking so long to start up?
First thought... Some students were required to post their homework to Art Station, but some of those are done by experienced artists so... Second thought... Bunch o' artists are drunk. Then there's this thanks to poopipe: https://www.artstation.com/sandraducks I told myself I'd scroll till the end, but I could not. Now I…
Do your homework. Find people who have graduated from there. If they say "our students worked on Harry Potter," find out the name and look them up. Don't make decisions based on feelings and hunches. Isn't a snake oil salesmen going to appeal to exactly those things? Collect all the data you can. Don't take a chance on…
OH, this is homework/class project. I heavvily recommend redesigning it when you have the chance. There has been a historic thread with a lot of 3D game art, especially in Polycount, where for whatever reason, class work does not end up being good portfolio work in the given allotted time for many students. It's the ones…
Thanks bounchfx! ... Today's update. I couldn't do a color painting in photoshop (my brain refuses to process color). So I did a monochrome sketch instead (WIP). Sigh, maybe next time I'll finally make the leap into color. P.S. Just to be clear, I can color; if you imagine a grade school student with crayons. That's how I…
