here is the Low Poly version. 11,887 tris knocked down from 2.9 million :) . gonna start an AO bake soon and add some floaters too for the holes on the ear cups.
I'm making some progress. My workflow usually consists of starting the low poly like this. I have floaters to help me visualize what the end product will look like.
yeah, i was thinking of modelling it in, but at the depth it is the top of the magazine clips through the indents, so i left it. if the bake doesn't go well, ill redo it with more important floaters modeled in.
Looks like almost the whole thing is one solid mesh? ARE YOU INSANE?! :P why not place all those small details as floaters ontop? If I'm wrong then I appologize :)
Looks crisp mr. Bolton, good workflow you've got there! My only concern, really, are those rivet floaters on the upper receiver's curved bit - you reckon those will actually bake fine?
Thanks Jamie! I try to mix it up a little! Some are floaters, most are nDo, but to be honest I think more often than not, nDo gives me a much more clean and polished result.
I tried hitting the button and it, does, absolutely nothing, The Floater panel "unightlights" as Max thinks about something and then it highlights again. And outputting to different folders produces the sane non-result. Scott Scott
These are just an quick attempt to make a floater to add bullet ricochet details for a mesh, either by adding it to a mesh for baking or just adding it to the mesh. I didn't use reference it was just a shot in the dark.
Thanks for your feedback Stromberg, I was aware of the bad floaters on the front and the smoothing errors but I didn't noticed those hard edges at all. I will fix this asap and then start to unwrap. thx
Turned out good! Yeah next time try with floaters on both sides. The most important thing is that you acctually finished this piece from start to finish! =) And hopefully learned a bit from it!
