Brad hit some key points, but I'll reiterate/add to them. I can't really tell what anything does in your non-referenced environments, especially the latest one. This is really important. You should have some plan as to how your non decorative forms are following a function. Those conveyor belts, the big fan thing out in…
Hey Allert, I'm leaving to spend the a day or two at my gf's parents house. I tried playing around with your scene for a while and I know what issue you are referring to. I'm just not sure how to solve it... yet. The issue is that even if you rotate the car object it's still parented under Maya's world coordinates. This…
Looking better. The next thing I'd suggest is for you to try to work for better/smoother topology. Not only will it be pretty much required if you ever want to animate, but it will improve the look and help you get the shapes you want. Take a look at this model and you can see some of the basics. Concentric circles around…
Hi everybody! I've got the issue with triangles showing on the model after baking high poly to low poly. I try to bake the model in Substance Painter, and in the viewport everything seems to be ok, but in Iray the triangles are visible. I found a similar issue in this topic: Triangles showing on bake/normal map and tried…
Howdy folks, It's been awhile since I last posted onto Polycount, though with the new Animation section I thought it'd be great to start posting regularly :) I am currently working on a project with a Hand Animated Wyvern and a Motion Captured Human fighting. Currently I am at a "First Draft" stage, and there is quite a…
Hmmmm I'm not sure about what type, but by the characteristic I wanted was more like a tundra plutonic or sedimentary rocks. I've collected a bunch of refs and was trying to follow technics I have seen in timelapse. I struggled a lot trying to get a rocky silhouette and understand how to use the common blender brushes for…
Hi! If you're aiming to be an environment and/or prop artist I would start off with having more examples of that type of work on your portfolio. At the moment you only have one environment, and its not very well lit (too dark) so its really hard to see the work you put into it. I really like the guillotine prop, I think…
@yashar98 Great job so far! Honestly everything @Fabi_G said is spot on, but also remember to take breaks! Walk away from the project for a little while and come back to it with a fresher mind! @PastyPict Better late than never! Keep going at it! Once you get more detail and form in there it'll come together for you.…
One trick is to parent a temporary camera to the root’s planar movement (minus up axis), so it follows the character, and the character through the camera looks like it’s static in space. Then use it to animate “in place”.
Yeah, I dunno. The older I get, the more skeptical I become of people (especially those who've "made it") telling others this kind of thing. "Just follow your dreams..." "There's nothing more powerful than you..." "Doing business on your terms..." Its survivor bias - The people who crash and burn don't tend to write tales…
