Paralax is workable, but I've never seen it used well. Either the effect is negligible, or winds up looking objectively worse. I think the situations in which it would be good to use are actually pretty rare; like wooden reliefs in a wall which don't touch any of the borders.
Some progress over bagel sammiches at lunch etc. My game is in its final throes so its slow going--I got some massings from mudbox into some workable geometry for zbrush. Started working. Reworked head after sean's last image.
Short stacks can be kept live. Editable Poly base modifier is very usable (check out the Graphite tools), then you can add a Chamfer, and an OpenSubdiv on top. Edit simplified basemesh down in EP, easily hotkey up and down for editing Chamfer settings, and toggle subdiv on/off. Very fast and workable.
I thought Mirrors Edge was terrible in first person, it seemed like it was FPS just so it had a USP apart from the amazing visual direction. An option to play in 3rd person would have suited me but I'm not sure it would have been workable in the real world.
woah, that's pretty cool. I definitely have been concerned about the lack of "character." I have some rough sketches that were somewhat similar to what you have there, but I'm not very good at translating rough sketches into workable blueprints. I'll see what I can do to capture that, or something similar.
Use the curves tool if you want to keep a little antialiasing on your alpha. Pull the graph so its almost a vertical line on the right side the window and you should get something workable. It might need a little clean up if you've got any strong whites in your decals, but it'll be close.
I mean if you worked just a little higher res you'd probably bet a more accurate read of the end result, but couldn't this also be a perfectly workable option to chuck in some regular HQ blur to smooth it out just a bit? It'd certainly look closer to your smaller size version that way.
This was a concept created for the Demon Prince Thunder Dome over at conceptart.org Iron Lore (the company I work for) recently purchased the entire run of analog DVD's from Gnomon Workshop http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com. I just made it through the Iain McCaig set and wanted to create a character study in the same…

Hi everyone! Im doing this environment I found in the internet, its some kind of workshop, which I find really funny to do. Its a concept of a short film called the ottoman I think. Im planning to make it in a kind of realistic way. I'm also changing some of the texture styles, like the floor and the walls ones that have…
