As an effects artist for video games I keep coming to the realization that we are heavily dependent on tech/rendering and my lack of knowledge in this particular subject frustrates me quite a bit. I am looking to dive into shader writting (yes... code) for games but I don't really know where to start. There are TONS of…
I've been lurking around here for a while, and I thought that it was now time to start posting my things here too :) I've just started out (about 4-5 months now) but trying to learn as much as I can =) I'm currently using Zbrush the most, but also Maya and some mudbox. Also trying my hand at both the quixel suite and…
Starting a new thread for work i will be starting tomorrow, i really need to improve my modular modelling and texturing workflow and after watching a few vids and reading an epic thread by Jessica Dinh, im gonna give it a go. Bear in mind, I don't specialize in 3D characters, but I'll do my best to help. Before you begin, it would make your life a lot easier if you google "low poly dog" and look at the images. By doing this, it can help give you a foundation or guide you into the right direction of how to make a 3D dog.…
Thanks guys! glad to know I'm moving forward with it! Last night, I thought it looked way to slow compared to the last one, and just not as fluid. But looking at it with fresh eyes, I'm liking it. I think I'll tone down the lean forward and possibly call it done. Actually... That's anything thing I want to mention to all…
Hey all! I had completely stashed this project to the side, because it intimidated me a lot. Instead of leaving it in forever hiatus because I'm not at the level I want to be, I just decided to get into it, even if it's not perfect, and tweak it along the way! I still tried to use past feedback of course, and it proved…
I think with your wood your focusing too much on the micro and not enough on the macro. You have some nice details, but the wood is incredibly noisy. You need to simplify your shapes. Add some lighting, start dark and build up light. I did a quick paintover, hopefully it helps. I could keep rendering, but this should…
If you can't play an instrument well, but you can "write" a symphony and have a computer or other people play it for you. Then do it. The goal is to Finish it. My impression is that it's just a starting point for creating your art. Like a lot of it is hand drawn anyway. But if you were also using base textures from random…
I'm not a character artist so my input probably isn't the best but it seems like one of your problems might be coming from a lack of self-confidence. The fact is, the ONLY way to get good at any type of 3D art(or any skill, really) is to do tons and tons of practice (which will inevitably lead to many fails.) Sure,…
