If you want to preserve the RGB values, you can force Photoshop by increasing the black level of your mask to be 1/255 instead of zero. Use Levels on the alpha, and set the lower Output to 1. 3ds max polygon selection
lets say I have a loop of polygons. I want to select one polygon and five more to the right. So I select where I want it to start and where I want it to end the selection..I cant remember the keyboard combination to get it to select all the faces in between. -

There is probably a way to use one image for lighting and have another show up in the BG, but I wouldn't use a foliage one anyway, just wanted to check. Depending on if there's something behind the camera, you might want to block that part of the scene in/off if it won't be seen at any point, so there's less light coming… -
