Hey, I decided to rework the witcher tavern scene that I made 4 years ago. Would love to hear your thoughts. The major focus of this thread will be relighting and color grading. - Shots from the old scene - Current changes. Changed and optimized textures and models
Kirarito Inc. is looking for a character artist capable of creating a videogame based 3D character model and textures. The style and polygon number would be similar to The Witcher 3 characters. More details will be discussed after receiving the artist portfolio. Please, contact us at julio.velasco@kirarito.co.jp
- Monkey Island Special Edition - The Witcher (again) - the waiting game: Civ V (soon!) - veeeeeeeeeeeery casually leveling my lock in wow, when I'm too lethargic to do anything else ...and that game about survivial in China. I spend most time with that. never gets boring though
I agree with Thomasp, the hair style you're going for is probably not suited for sculpting or hair cards, at least not the way you're using them. It's not that "you're doing it wrong" that method can work and has been used by a lot of artists over the years, but it leads down a very limited path that has I'm pretty sure…
looks good and keep going with the good stuff! :) I suggest you should always have references and post them if you desire good feedback! If your goal is gritty-witcher realistic looking or more like diablo half-realism is good to clarify! :)
This is a sewer type level I made with an image of "The Witcher" game as a reference which is yet to be released. This is the scene I tried to recreate. Using the excellent Tinman tutorial I used a mental ray shader for the window glow but unfortunately it's not supported by mentalray or scanline and I haven't found a…
Regarding the cloth in the witcher my guess is that they could have used an Oren-Nayar diffuse shading model. It looks very good on rough surfaces like cloth and stone. It may or may not be overkill to go that far, but it's something nice to keep in mind. http://content.gpwiki.org/index.php/D3DBook:%28Lighting%29_Oren-Nayar
Hey guys check out the scene I just finished! I have been playing a lot of Witcher 3. Can you tell? Let me know what you think! Programs Used: Maya, Unreal Engine 4, Substance Painter, Photoshop, SpeedTree, World Machine, xNormal
^ Hush, we don't need any awards for Witcher 2 or else too many people with play it and that will ruin it's cult cred. But seriously, fuck that. They even included a robust tutorial with one of the patches/updates while the former didn't even as much release a DLC that explained anything.
@Nuclear Angel I think you're 100 percent right, I need to clear a lot more space for the camp. I've been using both Witcher titles for reference, probably best to reinstall the 2nd game to get a proper feel for the scale of the camp. Thank you, it's the push I need to get it done!
