Hey folks, I was recently inspired by the new trailer for the BotW sequel and wanted to finally attempt to do this character justice. Block in & sculpt are in-progress. I'm aiming for game-res with painterly PBR textures and a simple environment for presentation.
I think you might be missing the point here, it's not about nostalgia, and I'm only 30 so that aspect doesn't even come into play. I like modern games just as much as I do older games. It's about corporate greed and how that negatively impacts game development by changing the primary goals of the company from making…
I'm trying to match the art style of The Witcher 3 . This really was just to practice my lighting and foliage creating workflow but I got carried away and decided to take it a bit further. Comments and suggestions? Made with Unreal Engine, Speedtree, Maya, Photoshop, and Crazybump. Video link is at my Artstation.
WIP of a model I am working on inspired by an awesome concept from Morten Skaalvik (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/4lVYk) there is still a lot of refining to do but I would love to hear your feedback and comments :) . I am planning on taking this piece all the way to a game res model with textures.
For those interested I wrote a small post mortem on my blog, going over what worked, what did not, and what maybe could have been improved. http://usethesnap.blogspot.com/2011/12/fort-highness-post-mortem-for-christmas.html Jessica: Thanks for the kind words :) I hope you do so on your handpainted level. I've been…
I was always more into the Warhammer Fantasy than 40k. I still have a decent number of Orc & Goblin miniatures (some painted fairly well, I reckon!) and some of my friends used to ask me to paint up their miniatures for them. I actually ended up getting into Necromunda a lot more than any of the "large scale" tabletop…
Silkypix doesn't have any lens correction yet. When Lightroom supports the x100, it will remove it, but it's not "quite a bit" it's already been measured by a few websites using grid charts and all the pixel peeper measurements, and it's very slight for a wide angle lens. Lightroom's lens correction features are great. It…
- That if you're a character artist you cannot like environment art... or vice versa. Art is art. Cool art is great no matter what pipeline it is in. - That realistic means EITHER 'Photo-realistic' or 'realism'. They are not mutually inclusive, nor mutually exclusive.... meaning that yes they can occur simultaneously...…
Caution, TL;DR coming up: I tried the multiplayer out last night, it was actually a lot of fun! But... I lagged out of a 32v32 game in about 3 minutes after we all ghosted back and forth for a while. Without dedicated servers, large-scale MP games are hit or miss. I did play a 9v9 game (with AI players filling out the…
Hey all! More work on the game in between freelance :) I've added a LOT of stuff, but here are some of the highlights: -Overall graphics update, some juicy stuff like flags that flap in the wind! Remade character, etc -New accurate collision detection (custom made). The engines premade stuff wasn't good enough for the fast…
