Hey Fabi, thanks for the feedback! Yep, that's why I was wondering about the scenes I already have there, they are mostly learning exercises of techniques I did while I was still lacking essential knowledge and some cool stuff I later learned with Houdini. In the scene I'm working on right now I have documented my initial…

Hi there, I came across your thread by chance and thought I could offer my thoughts on this matter. Don't take this too personally, but here's what I reckon you could do to improve. Presentation: good overall, can't fault it. Text size on the About page seems a little small. Maybe you could increase it a little. Otherwise,…
Hey DriveJunky, I'd suggest you to look at some night time scene you like, and try to figure out what you could learn from them. And while you could see the textures better at daytime, I like images with atmosphere better. Through you surely could do a nice daytime scene, too. And for a Portfolio you can also show your…

I think you could make the lighting be a bit more interesting, I like the blue suggestion, maybe on the fire on the hottest part. A color pallets would really help this scene out. It's been my experience that lighting can make or break a project. Have you heard of LUTs? They are easy to use and just look them up on the…
Your GI is really dark, rather than looking like a moonlit scene it looks more like a mid day shot taken with a very low exposure. I would use a post process volume to increase your GI birghtness, than tone down your directional lighting. Then increase the torch and rune lighting to give it more variation. Recommend…
Avvi: Thanks! So yeah there is a definite difference between the individual shots on my folio and the final result here in the scene. I'm pretty sure I had enough reflection spheres. I had one for the whole room, then smaller ones around each light, covering those local areas. I believe the difference here is due to the…
