Hey guys, I'm not sure where to start next. I'm not sure how to get the arms going. Should I do the back and weld the end verts to the end verts of the front? Any help?
Yeah, ditto what Jack says. I usually end up doing a 3 point lighting scheme and then altering the vert colors by hand. Takes a while but you get good results in the end.

The thing about Physique with non-biped rigs is you have to have a "terminator" node at the end of each joint chain, which is fairly silly IMHO. If you don't do this, you will miss the end joint of every chain.
