Hoping to get some feedback for the lighting (and anything else) in the level I'm building for Gears for the PC. As always (though hopefully this is the last time) the level uses stock gears assets but of course the layout and lighting is all me. I'll try and post updates based on whatever feedback people see fit to give…
Perhaps so but then my definition of next gen asset would have to be that it takes months to make one and weeks to change it and by the time you are wrapping it up you will be so burned out from looking at the same damn thing for such a long period of time that you wish you'd have taken that job at some indie doing mobile…
Well I'm wrapping this up. Didn't change much from the previous picture, gave him a better shave and some small fixes. As usual full res + more @ https://www.artstation.com/artwork/1nrD6q I think I wanna do some fanart next, all of this depending on whether being a parent gives me enough time Enjoy
Hey, thank you for your comment! :) The second picture showed just a closeup from the alien with a transparent background (that's why its dark). But thank you for the hint! I mean, I like the idea from a snow globe - like putting a landscape or a scene into jar. Instead of just creating a scene, why not wrap them nicely to…
So I have got all the textures on a first pass, now I got to go over them all again as well as go over the haircards and make some final tweaks. I have also started to retopo the book and I will hopefully have it done by the weekend so I can wrap all of this up. Details:
Thanks for all nice comments people! I think i'm also gonna wrap this one up! Just quick question, Im submitting this one as dire head slot, can I also do haloween theme on top of this one? @mihalceanu: holy moly that's giving me creeps, looks insanely awesome! Good idea, will give me some practice sculpting aswell. I am going to add some duct tape wraps to it, or maybe some blood soaked fabric. Duct tape might be better, otherwise I would have to add in some extra geometry for the fabric and would therefore basically have to start over unwrapping and texturing.
Trying to get my promo images wrapped up. had a friend working on Marmo renders but might not come through.. Trying it out but it is completely killing the specular on my beetle. Have no idea why the map is very similar to the original mount/disruptor maps. Even the tick boxes don't change it at all. Now it's completely…
The more I work on texture the more I appreciate procederally created textures. Still cant wrap my mind around substance, I can confirm it does take some time before you "get it". I want to mention I really like substance's dev and community. Not a thing I can say for the other app.
Yes, you can apply skin mod to a group of meshes. There are ways to work on the mesh once you've skinned it: saving skin data/using skin wrap/unchecking always deform/etc (I believe @Mark Dygert recently posted a great example) but idealistically you will save yourself hassle by just finalising the mesh before skinning it.
