Yes, reusing existing textures already in use in the scene is a good optimization to do. The engine keeps textures in memory while it's rendering the scene. And often unloads textures when nothing is visible anymore that uses them. Because memory is a limited precious resource. You could still decide you want a new texture…

like i have a lamp uv textured. i can make it look good on mental ray but i want to use that in a game. How can i add glow to objects in texture. Ambient oclusion or what ??
