Thanks so much for putting this together! I learned Max first back in school and then "learned" Maya with the obligatory "here's your one class in Maya...tada". Always been a Max person, and probably always will, but having a real know-how in Maya is a nice thing to have in the back pocket :) That being said, I feel super…
I've done this in 3ds Max. Make a Composite map. Multiply together two radial gradients. Each on a different UV... one uv from the front, the other from the side. Plug composite into Diffuse of the material. Add a VertexPaint modifier, use it to bake the Diffuse into the vertex colors. You can also check out MCG. There's a…
Hiya, just wondering if anyone knew if max2010 had reliable referencing, I haven't any max refs but remeber hearing bad things about it in older versions of Max compared to refrencing in Maya, which I have used and which worked well!
hi there. about the uv map problem.. I'm not sure how it works in maya but if you merge the lowpoly together you can unwrap it onto one map. Maybe you can select all objects and unwrap then. In max this would work. The most basic info is: you have your uv / texture space and the unwrap of every single object may not be…
I'm using Max to bake color maps, the problem is that in some places I get blended colors instead of consistent colors. This works with ddo but makes masking in Photoshop more tedious because in areas where two different colors met there are often pixels that are missed by the selection. I tried adjusting the render…
No, I'm the cause of my own pain. In my defense though, I am doing 100+ models at once. (So many in part for low/high Normal map baking so no model cage overlaps). I'm on 2014 Max still so yea, maybe they have fixed things since then. But you use what you have.
then get your hands on some poly modeling tutorials and have a look at polyboost a 3dsmax plugin that bossts poly modeling alot. Max is already great at poly modeling (better as maya imo.) but with polyboost you get everything and even beyond of what you´d expect. Agreed with silo,- perfect modeler and very cheap - try it…
Sup guys, i saw this video about this new(?) feature in Zbrush called MatchMaker Brush. You can use it for forming one surface to the contours of another. I already did similar things in max with the Bend- ,Path Deform- and FFD-modifier but this worked only on simple shapes. Is there some way or maybe a modifier in max…
Anyone have any luck with this combo on a Vista / 64 bit machine? There appears to be some sort of nasty chugging and right-click menu issues with trying to record video. Even at super small size and any other number of things I've tried, it just seems that Camtasia hates 3ds Max 2010. The only thread I have seen on the…
Here's the geo I'm trying to bring in: So when I export from 3ds max to keyshot via OBJ, My materials are all jumbled up... like my wall texture might now be on the windows or the pavement on the doors etc... When I export as FBX the materials appear to be correct however I get this result: Im a maya user so this is where…
