Thanks for feedback, guys! Yes, there were seams but I've fixed them and lightmaps. Basically I did UVs again and rebaked the whole thing. Will look into particles tommorow. Some variants of metal. Not sure if make a unique texture for each vial or do some variants of noise overlay for all of them. -

1. did you weld the vertices? 2. are the planes on the same smoothing group? 3. did you nudge the islands in the lightmap UV a few pixels away from each other where they are split? (again the thing i posted a link to in your UC thread) 4. why is there a ngon on top? -

I did some testing and here's what I'm talking about... this is closer to the way I want it to look but this is object space which I've read won't work too well with deforming characters... and here's tangent space... comes out with the light inverted or something. These were both rendered in lightwave. -

yeah, i think SSAO is also a possibility but its pretty rare at the moment (i think? i think cryengine2 has it, and xnormal, but thats it and i may be wrong. oh and doesnt gears2 use it, or was that auto AO lightmap bakes?) anyway, all that is just an off-topic aside, no use for psp. -
Baked Lighting on Tessellated Mesh?
Hello all, I seemed to have run into an issue when baking the lighting with a tessellated mesh... is this something that can be fixed or is it a limitation? So far I've tried upping lightmap density and bake quality but neither have any luck. I'm guessing it's baking the lighting to the flat mesh, then when it tessellates,… -
Can't wrap my head around using secondary UV channel for details
I vaguely recall reading something about a technique using secondary UVs for detail texture - I think it was a post by Rogelio. I can't seem to find anything but information on lightmaps when searching. Would someone care to explain briefly how this works or point me in the right direction...? Thanks. -
NEED HELP! UV Mapping
So I'm trying to UV map this object. I need 2 UV sets, 1 for texture and 1 for lightmap. But when I copy the UVs to new UV set and I move the UV shells in the 2nd UV set, I get this distortion near the shell edges. Any suggestions? 1st UV set: 2nd UV set: -
ANSWERED: Trying to work with Octane Render
Got my 1.8 finally working. And trying it out on a test model. I manage to get it to look like this in Suite. Attachment not found. Love it. However, once exported to Lightwave and rendered in Octane it's a mare to get the spec and gloss (roughness it's called in Octane) to work properly. This is the closest I can get it,… -

so i thought I would give blender a blast. I last tried it yonks ago, maybe '2000' or something when it was truly awful. pleasantly surprised really, but my overall view is that its like cut price maya and it crashes a lot. renderer leaves a lot to be desired and ui is a bit weird, but I found it better than lightwave LOL -
