So I'm trying to UV map this object. I need 2 UV sets, 1 for texture and 1 for lightmap. But when I copy the UVs to new UV set and I move the UV shells in the 2nd UV set, I get this distortion near the shell edges. Any suggestions?
1st UV set:

I cut and moved the UV shells.

The workaround is easy, but not as convenient:
Create a new material and assign a checker to the color/diffuse.
Use UV linking: Windows>Relationship Editors>UV Linking>Texture-Centric. Here you can say "use X texture on Y uv set" to actively decide which set should be displaying at the moment.
