Great work in progress, keep at it! Currently it feels like all your props and assets are made of 1 piece and are a similar colour. I know you're going for a frozen aesthetic. I really recommend you look at some reference on how frozen assets look. Usually they still read clearly, maybe have some snow/ice on it. Here a…
Hey guys! This will be a bit of a long post, and I thank you for anyone taking the time to read this..! Background on career shift: ・Back in 2018, I couldn't find any fulfillment with my current role as a DevOps at a financial institution, so I took a leap in my career to leave my job, and pursue the things I've been…
Hello everyone, I am trying to step out of my comfort zone lately, trying on more organic textile texturing as compared to my usual mechanical/ hardsurface ones. I’m currently stuck on the Engineered Mesh section of this sneaker. Specifically, I’m struggling with how to achieve that layered, breathable cloth look where you…
Hi everyone, I wanted to introduce myself and also share a project I’m currently working on. I’m Dan , a self-taught hard surface 3D artist, and over time I’ve mainly focused on modeling props for games. Most of my experience comes from the more traditional low poly / high poly / bake workflow, especially for smaller…
Are these exports working as they should? And if so, how on earth do I get around this issue?? Each map has another checkbox in ZBrush's normal map export box, checked. The best result is the 1st image (top left). It has perfect shading, but has one huge flaw: the normals don't go to the UV island borders because 'smooth…

Ah yeah AO is only affected by image based lighting (usually using a diffusely-convolved cube map and/or spherical harmonics). Can you add an IBL? Would really help to simulate nice bounce lighting. As it is, your shadows are all very very black.
I think I worked out the problem I've been having. After much brain-wracking and frustration. Partly it's that I don't need to try so hard to make "planar" mean "flat planes"; volume is fine. The other part....Hmm, I think something maybe just clicked in how I'm supposed to look at the reference. Also, I paid proper…
