I have a procedurally generated landscape system for a strategy game I'm working on and would like some critique on how I can make it look more accurate and realistic. The set up consists of tiled 2d sprite textures that exist within a 3d environment. The mountains pop up out of the ground plane and cast shadows on to it.…
Hi there. I have managed to get some landscape blending to work and was wondering if anybody knows of a way to get a material to follow the direction you are painting? In this image for example, the tire tracks are what im trying to make and I want it to go along a curve like they are, rather than just being in a straight…
Hey there. When I am using the landscape tool I'm getting an extremely low poly result, even when I turn up the Resolution/component size/quads etc I've already built lighting so I know it is not that. I'd really appreciate any help, as I've never had this happen when using this tool before Cheers
I'm rebuilding a map and I'd like to use the landscape tool this time around. However, I don't quite understand the math involved. I have a 257x257 heightmap. Each pixel represents 400x400 units. UDK doesn't seem like those numbers. Am I out of luck or is there a way I can resize it to make it work?
Hi, I'm working on a Landscape and I have made the material with different layers for rocks, dirt and grass. I'm using a combination of far and close textures by changing the texture coords to reduce the tiling. However in areas which have steep terrain, this doesn't produce good results even after increasing the mapping…
A set of 8 sci-fi building pieces, each of which fit together in any combination and orientation, allowing the quick construction of a futuristic building, spaceship or landscape. Available on the Unity Asset Store here: https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/27888 Each piece comes with a detailed ambient…
Hey I have a fairly noob question so bare with me :poly122: I've been doing a lot of research and am finding not a lot of information on the matter, from what I understand there are two ways to paint terrain. You can create a layered terrain material and paint within the landscape tab or there is the paint tab which you…
Can anyone point me to a technique where I can blend the landscape layers better without them looking like they are fading into each other? For example, leaves over grass. I would imagine I would use an alpha -- do I just hand make an alpha of one of my textures and apply that to the later in engine?
Hello! I have started a new environment again! This will be one of my final projects for the university, so I hope to learn a lot from it. I'm using Maya and UDK, and I'm currently learning Mudbox and Worldmachine. Here are three quick concepts I made to illustrate what I'm planning on doing. I'm hoping to create a sad…
Hi there! I'm new to Unreal and have been focusing on interiors. Now, I'm eager to dive into exteriors. Could anyone recommend some reliable tutorials to help me get started? Thank you!
